Google announced on July 19th that later this year 3D poly interactive objects will be available for use in interactive display ads. Google Official Announcement

How to use Google Swirl

First, you’ll need either an artist’s render or a scanned 3d object. For ecommerce advertising scanned 3d objects open up a lot of possibilities. It’s a way to get a little closer to a brick and mortar experience of being able to see a product from all angles. There are two basic ways to scan objects. Photogrammetry, which uses normal cameras, or purpose-built 3D structured light scanners. This video is a good rundown of the plusses and minuses of each method.

Next, you’ll need to upload the object in the correct format to Google Poly. Google Poly is Google’s cloud-based repository. How to upload to Google Poly.

Optimize your photo realistic poly

Finally, you’ll want to import the object from Google Poly into Google Web Designer.

Copy the embed code from Google Poly to import into GWD.

There is no Swirl template within GWD as of yet. For now you can work with the objects using the 3D component to build out interactive ads.
